My economic development idea is...

Converting to Underground Electrical Wires.

Converting to Underground Electric Service, would showcase our lovely hills and charming homes. And it would also be safer!

Yes, I too wish we would look as nice as any neighborhood in Europe. The only undergrounding here was done long ago on Visitacion -- indeed to make the street more attractive to business! -- and San Bruno. The funding for that kind of improvement is tightly controlled by PG&E, and Brisbane's allocation was all spent for those streets.

The only way to underground residential streets is for the majority of the people on a block to agree to pay for it. Last I heard the process is pretty complicated -- and costly for each house, of course. We tried on our block, but the idea was turned down by most homeowners.

For aesthetic reasons, neighborhood w underground service and other community amenities typically go for a higher home prices.
