Appreciate Anja's insights because it is hard to see any evidence of change; Visitacion is probably not a good barometer for all of Brisbane, but it's what many of us see on a daily basis, and it's discouraging. But, it looks like the economic landscape is truly improving and perhaps we're coming out of the recession.
Good place to do the kind of development that has been stalled as we wait for market forces to develop. When the Olympics come to town, this one will probably get fired up. :-)
I don't like leaving town to shop for basic stuff. I figure that doing so amounts to a Plenty of sales tax revenue over the course of a year that is NOT going to Brisbane, and that bothers me. Realistically, though, TJ's and Whole Paycheck will not see fit to settle here without the right infrastructure and exposure.
Wonderful idea... And seems like something that could be sustained year to year. A wonderful way to support our local artists. If we can position a car show as a community event -- which is quite a cool idea, and has been well-received, it seems!-- it seems that an open studios concept , or open air art exhibit -- is accomplishing a good thing from a different perspective. Events that allow the community to gather but also build Brisbane's presence on the upper peninsula as the interesting and unique spot that it is. -- yes to that!
